In 2017, Dan Hoffman started Circles to connect the world deeply so people could learn and grow together. He incubated the idea during a 2-year sabbatical with his family in Barcelona, with the help of the Aspen Institute. Previously, Dan started M5 Networks, Inc. a pioneering cloud communications company which he sold to ShoreTel in 2012, a public company who competed with premises-based office phone system technology. Prior to M5, Dan founded Asia Online, a pan-Asian VC-backed roll-up of local Internet Service Providers, based in Hong Kong. Dan currently serves as Board Chairman of Workshop in Business Opportunities, a 50-year non-profit that teaches business to entrepreneurs in struggling communities.
